The Sudan Peoples’ Liberation Movement (SPLM) issued a statement
announcing that it has suspended its participation in the government of
national unity until its partners in the National Congress Party (NCP)
meet a list of demands.
Miraya FM’s reporter in Juba, Silvanos Yokoju, says that the
problems listed in the statement include delays in the implementation of
the Abyei Protocol.
"[SPLM] presidential
advisers, ministers and state ministers will not report to
work until these contentious issues are
resolved."
Pagan Amum - SPLM
Secretary-General
The statement also complained about Khartoum’s lack of
transparency in distributing oil revenues.
Our reporter says that that SPLM formed a committee headed by the
Governor of the Blue Nile State, Malik Aqqar, to follow up these demands
with the NCP.
Reuters news agencey quoted SPLM secretary-general, Pagan Amum, as
saying at a news conference that his party "recalled all ministers
and presidential advisers from the government of national unity."
"Presidential advisers, ministers and state ministers will not
report to work until these contentious issues are resolved," he
added.
Amum also complained that the NCP had failed to carry out many
provisions of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement.
